Land of Ice, Fire and Trolls On what planet? All superlatives regarding Iceland are an understatement. Magical, outer-space, unique, quirky and bizarre. And what is so special about it all? Volcanoes, ice caves, glaciers, geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, ........ Shall I continue? Northern lights and midnight sun, black sand beaches, rugged fjords and cliffs and unique animals such as whales, dolphins, puffins and Icelandic horses. And of course the gnomes, elves and trolls. They left Europe a long time ago because they were not taken into account and in Iceland they are.. |
Why go offroading on Iceland? Iceland has special F-roads (fjallvegir), mountain roads that are only accessible with a 4wd. These lead you through lava deserts, glacial rivers and surreal landscapes still only accessible by 4wd. It is often as if you are on Mars or the Moon. NASA trained its crews here. If a flight with Space-X is still a bit pricy for you, go to Iceland. But... be careful because nature is Sacred here and inform yourself of the dangers or take a guide.
