Sardinia Off Road

Pure Adventure Sardinia I first visited Sardinia when I was 6. And I remember the impact the island had on me. The rugged, untouched nature and spectacular coastlines, the proud Sardinians and wild boar on a spit. The Sardinians (i Sardi) Islanders are islanders. And Sards are Sards. They are known to be proud, stubborn and very attached to their island and their community. They are certainly hospitable but also reserved towards strangers until trust is built. Strong family values and respect for traditions play a big part. They are a people accustomed to self-sufficiency and simplicity due to centuries of relative isolation. Sardinian cuisine Sardinian kitchen is simple, robust and rooted in rural life at its core, with dishes such as roast wild pig (porceddu), sheep's cheese (pecorino sardo) and thin, crispy bread (pane carasau). However, due to its strategic location in the Mediterranean, Sardinia also received influences from outside through trade and occupation: Phoenicians, Romans, Catalans, Arabs and Genoese left their mark. Arabic is the use of saffron, almonds and honey in pastries such as seadas. Catalans and Spanish brought spices and stews that are still popular in coastal areas, and Italian influence (Ligurian and Tuscan) can be seen in pastas such as malloreddus and culurgiones. |
Offroad in Sardinia Varied terrain Sardinia offers a huge variety: from rocky mountain paths in the rugged interior to sandy tracks along the coast, and sometimes challenging river crossings. The Gennargentu mountains are particularly spectacular. Beautiful views You will regularly drive on narrow mountain roads with breathtaking views of bays and cliffs. The combination of mountains and sea provides many impressive scenery. Authentic atmosphere Off the beaten track you will come to villages where it seems as if time has stood still, with shepherds herding their flocks and people who still speak Sardinian. Technical driving You have to expect rocky passages, steep climbs and sometimes narrow, overgrown tracks — so it requires some driving experience and a decent 4x4 or bike. Season In summer it is very hot and dry (fire hazard!), while spring and autumn are ideal: then it is green, the flowers are in bloom and the paths are more passable. Please note! Accessibility and rules There are many unpaved paths that are open to 4x4 or motorbike, but beware: some areas (such as nature reserves) have restrictions. It is wise to check local regulations or to drive with a guide. A local guide, that is! And for that I can ask my partner in Italy to make your trip an unforgettable succes. Custom and also in the Calendar In both cases, the execution is by my partner in Italy. Calendar - individually bookable Most of what I offer is custom, but this trip can also be booked individually. If interested, I will connect you to my partner in Italy. The trip in Sardinia itself is from 6 to 11 September. All information in the following text block. Custom Specify your travel dates, group size and your wishes and then my partner will see what he can do for you. |
