You and Marco Hupkes
Do we match? We're going on an offroad adventure. There should be some shared vision. We don't have to be the same. No, please not. But please check this: Who am I? Also on the team page 'about' you can read something about me. Here I want to tell you about the big off-road metaphor that is my life and I would also like to make clear to you how I work. My story in a nutshell Raised in two cultures. Dutch and Italian. Then high school... the fun part was going on trip every holiday. Exploring my path I found out that I was the owner of my life and so I choose to leave university and the Netherlands and put my life on 'freestyle mode'. With a hundred guilders in the pocket and my thumb up I went off to wander around the Mediterranean and the Sahara desert. I worked as a cook, day laborer, outdoor & whitewater kayak instructor and adventure travel guide. After 7 years I got back to the Netherlands were I worked as a stand-up comedian, teacher of history, civics, philosophy and psychology and still did road and offroad guiding. The last 10 years I organise custom road/offroad adventure in Morocco, Europe and here in Holland. Also I coach people with serious problems helping them to realise mindset shift. So that's a lot of different stuff?... It's all about exploring the world and the soul. It's about experiencing fun and happiness. I's about guiding and sharing till death do us part ;-) |
The Off Road Metaphor Offroading to me means: being focussed in the moment. Accepting reality as it is. Seeing obstacles as something to deal with in a calm and realistic way. Choosing and focussing on the right way to ride. Not blaming the path, the wether, my vehicle, my GPS, my co-driver, the locals and so on. Off course things around me can be shit but it is up to me how I deal with it. It's not about having to be perfect, no way, it's about taking responsibility for my actions. I just try to stick to these principals. How do I work when on tour? The most important to me is that you have a wonderful experience, that at the end of our trip you are in good health, that all the materials we used still function and all the locals we have met would be happy to see us back. Our trip is tailor-made so you have a lot to say about it. Regarding safety, team spirit and relations with locals however I give feedback to clients who behave across standards. Luckily this is something that very rarely happens. So, do we match? Reading all this maybe you could think: "this Marco guy only wants to take superhero's as client". Not so! I am in no ways perfect and I don't expect you to be perfect. This is the basic: generally you respect other humans, nature, the material and you (try to) have a 'safety mindset'. You are willing to listen to feedback and feel secure enough to give me feedback. Also you realize that an offroad adventure can be planned but reality can be different. So you have a certain flexibility and if you get nervous, anxious or what so ever (which is only human) at least you are willing to reflect on your behavior. If this sounds good to you then let's go. Clients reviews If you want to check how clients experienced there trip please take a look at the review page on my other website. Part of the credentials is in English. |
